Our thirty-sixth year promoting performing arts on Cape Cod!

September 19th- June 2th

Welcome
As we continue to celebrate our 36th anniversary, we acknowledge the hundreds of people who, over the years, have made this celebration possible. The names of all of those involved are way too numerous to mention, but the contributions made by all of these individuals has been an integral part of our success. Beginning with the vision of John and Elizabeth Kelly, the school has blossomed from a small contingent of teachers and students into a year round institution for learning the performing arts. Over the years, the administration and staff have worked hard to provide an environment in which our students can experience all of the benefits of an arts education; the outstanding faculty, each accomplished in their chosen disciplines, have generously shared their talents and love of the performing arts with their students; parents have given hours upon hours of donated time for events, fundraisers and performances and our students have worked endlessly to play just the right note or get the dance sequence correct. All of these individuals, together with the Trustees, members and countless donors, have created and sustained the Academy school and all hold a truly special place in its history. During this 35th year celebration, we take to time to thank all of those who have contributed to our success throughout the years and commit ourselves to sustaining and elevating the standard of arts education that has been set by their efforts.

Director of School Operations

Performance

Performance experience is crucial in the development of all performing artists and this School prepares our students for a number of presentations annually, which aim to showcase the talents of our students as they are developing. Our Playhouse offers unique opportunities to participate in a variety of productions as actors, singers, dancers, musicians, backstage crew and set, lighting and costume support crew. The summer Children’s Theatre production offers participants a chance to perform weekly during July and August. Between our Playhouse and School we are proud of the variety and sheer breadth of potential performance experience those interested can receive.

We are also keen to provide other performance opportunities, particularly for our more experienced older teen and adult students, through outreach presentations, as time and resources permit.

Workshops

Be sure to watch our website for special workshops taking place throughout the year in dance, music and drama.

Scholarships

Over the years, the Scholarship Program at the Academy has enabled hundreds of students to experience the benefits of an arts education. In many instances, students would not be able to continue their dance classes or music lessons without some type of financial aid. The number of students auditioning for scholarships has grown over the past few years, indicative of the decrease in disposable income that many families in our community are experiencing. These students are committed, hard working and disciplined and their classes at the Academy are an extremely important part of their lives. Our scholarship program relies on assistance from a community that recognizes the need for an accessible arts education program and the life long benefits that are the result of such an education. We gratefully acknowledge those who have donated to our Scholarship Fund in the past and ask that you join the community of donors to ensure that it remains vital and growing in the future. For information on donating to the Academy of Performing Art’s Scholarship Fund, please call 508-255-5510.
