Setting the Stage for Tomorrow
Please support The Academy of Performing Arts’
$4 Million Capital Campaign
The Academy of Performing Arts has served our community since 1975. Our 42-year legacy includes providing performers and audiences with high quality theater experiences at our historic Academy Playhouse Theater and educating local students at our Academy School.
With deep roots in our community, the Academy is regarded as one of Cape Cod’s most recognizable destinations and a cultural gem that consistently delights audiences and exceeds expectations.
After generations of use and decades of exceptional theatrical productions, our 142-year-old Playhouse building needs major capital improvements and our well-worn school building needs modernization.
The Academy’s vision is to secure the Playhouse building’s future – creating a 21st century theater in a fully restored 19th century historic landmark – and rejuvenate the Academy School. We are so excited to imagine the creative possibilities once these goals are achieved!
We hope you will join our efforts to make these vital improvements. Your support will help preserve this beloved historic building, enable us to continue to cultivate talent and art in our community, and create the magic of theater that so enriches us all.

Project Goal – $4 Million
Our historic Playhouse will not be able to sustain continued use much longer. The Academy has maintained a consistent regimen of maintenance and smaller repair projects over the years. Despite regular care, the historic structure is aging.
Our audiences, performers, and students need to experience the arts at its best. To ensure that everyone continues to have access to high quality cultural and educational opportunities, The Academy must respond to critical building needs at both The Playhouse and The School.
Our goal is to secure the buildings’ ongoing operation and future sustainability. Our facilities must safely accommodate everyone and The Academy must remain fiscally sound.
To accomplish this, The Academy is committed to:
– Preserving and leveraging our unique arena-style performance space.
– Meeting 21st Century entertainment expectations while maintaining the integrity and character of our historic building.
– Continuing to experiment and explore creative avenues.
– Creating offerings that support our artists and audiences.
– Enhancing our standard of excellence in performance, education, and community enrichment.
The Academy is deeply invested in fostering and promoting the intrinsic value that the creative arts bring to our community, how it brings people together, and the countless ways it enhances our lives. Please do not let these challenges become our final act! Your support will ensure that The Academy can continue to foster our creative community, preserve this treasured landmark, and bring enriching cultural experiences to our residents and visitors for years to come.
